Setting out as a simple email-based discussion forum, the group has now grown to become the world's largest Bodhrán related online community. It has over 600 members from all around the world and the amosphere is friendly and supportive. The group comprises players of all standards from complete beginners to the world's top professionals - many members post regularly, others simply sit back and read the discussions of participating subscribers, pick the pace that suits you. The group is a place of discussion and debate on such subjects as instruments, makers, players, techniques and really any bodhrán related subject. Mildly OT posts are acceptable but racist, sectarian or abusive opinions will not be tolerated.

As a member of the bodhran group you will be able to receive emails either individually, as a daily digest or to read them on the Yahoo! Groups' website (having selected no-mail/web only option). The group site is also home to many useful resources provided by members.

The forum is free to join using the links above and is equally easy to unsubscribe if you feel it is not for you. We hope that you join and stay for the craic.

A note on recent changes - November 2005

In June 2001 Cat Lake - aka Bodhráness Catherine - launched the bodhránii Yahoo! Group. In November 2005, following strategy discussions regarding a shared passion, Cat invited Paul Marshall to share ownership of the groups and align with bodojo to provide an even greater selection of services to our fellow bodhrán players. The bodhránii discussion group was rebranded as bodhran at that turning point in order to provide continuity whilst securing its links to the site as the official FAQ.

By collaborating on the forum project, the management workload of both projects is divided and fresh stimulii are provided; by tying in to bodojo as the knowledge base, the resources and facilities available to Bodhránii will instantly increase and provide a basis for further development.

We look forward to your participation in the group - Keep her lit!!!

Cat and Paul
