bodhrán Tutorial Reviews
As part of my own research and constant personal quest for understanding of my instrument, Bodojo has purchased or been sent a wide variety of bodhrán tutorial material. we are reviewing / have reviewed those materials and you can read the reviews detailed below. The review process for me involves starting the tutorial from scratch using my normal processes (PC for CD-rom, VHS for video etc) and following it from the perspective of a player at the skill level to which the tutorial is addressed. This means that the majority of these reviews will cover materials intended to start at introductory level. All of them will continue to intermediate and in some cases, advanced lessons. Because of the beginner-focus of the media generally, I look specifically for the structure of the lessons and materials that are used to facilitate the learning process and also at how the tutorial as a whole comes together to provide a cohesive and intuitive vehicle for a player to start and continue to progress. What is clear is that there is a variety of playing and teaching styles being employed, some, in my opinion, are better thought-out and executed than others. There is also variety in presentation methods even where the same media are employed. Whilst presentation of the product itself is not a key factor in its effectiveness it tends to be related to the overall production effort and the quality of the tutorial material itself. If you know of tutorial materials that are not reviewed yet please ket me know, if you have released a publication and dare let me review it, please get in touch and I'll be happy to share my opinions here Books
