4th December 2009 Trades Club, Hebden Bridge - MILUN - Milun bring you the fresh, new sounds of Indo-Irish music featuring Surmeet Singh (sitar), Chris 'O Malley (accordion & guitar), Sam Proctor (fiddle & bodhran) and Upneet Singh (tabla). Together the four musicians celebrate the common themes and unique aspects of the classical and folk traditions of India and Ireland. Through a deep musical conversation they have captured the haunting sounds of the Indian Alaap to the pounding energy of Irish reels on the sitar, Bodrán, tabla, fiddle and accordion. By combining the notes found in the standard minor scale in Irish music with well-known ragas in Indian music, they exchange traditional motifs in a 'question and answer' to create a new music expression that is reflective 21st Century Britain. Amongst young traditional Banjo Players the name James Harvey is one of the most revered with four in a row All-Ireland titles and a further three on mandolin, he came to Limerick more recently and immediately joined Goitse to complete an enthusiastic and talented line out.
