Performance exam went great, if anything I could have had the stereo up higher. I really love these bass grooves that are going on and the harmonics I hit em all spot on. So I'm hoping it was A1 material. I had some serious talent "backing" me for the live set of Hornpipe and Reels. The main thing was the experiment with the Martin & Dennis tunes and the pitches, tones and harmonics were all on the money. So I'm happy.

Gotta get you a tidyerupper for your next birthday then!?!

This net thing is gas, remembering when I started out playing I'd have done anything for a resource like this. Tis a far cry from Mr Hannigans' Bodhran Vid with right-hand (if you're right-handed) or left-hand if your left-handed, screen on screen inset. Good for its time mind!

Anyone starting out now must get great benefit from the tutorials on here, you're doing a fine job Mudder Hen, keep it going

Hi, whats the best instructional cd/dvd available for learning to play like John Joe Kelly?

i dont believe any one has done a topend/single ended playing video tutorial other then what you can find on the net.

A lot of the vids Paul has loaded onto the site highlight this style of playing. I think its about taking from it what you want and then incorporating it into your own style of playing.

For me what JJ does and does extremely well is great for the ensemble that is Flook, I'm not entirely sure it fits regular session playing mind. That's something to keep in mind and try to keep in with the feel of a session and work with what fits.
Also JJ is an accomplished kit drummer working in beats and tones from kit drumming too. For me I enjoy trying new tones harmonics. I've taken from JJ's playing what appeals and drafted into my own style of playing, same with Junior, Jim Tommy, Mel & Frank. I've worked with all of them in the past and introduced elements of their playing to my own but concentrated on my own style augmented by others.

Yep I think to get a heads up on top-end style Paul is setting up a very strong bank of demos on line for us all and more to the point its free. Ideal for home practicing in the dark nights of winter and as the silly season is upon us we can get one on one confirmation of our work at the likes of Craiceann, Drumshanbo etc.

Hi Guys
Just on the double down video.
I know the title of this post kinda says it all, but i`m still having trouble in implementing it. I play mainly Kerry style but would like to use single end triplets to see where i could go with them.
Could someone explain, in as basic as basic can be, the actual strokes/speed for the single end roll.

Is it Down, Quick Down, up.........

anyone clear this up for me?
