Hey guys,
thanks for your kind comments and feedback. The middle finger was a natural thing for me, everyone's grip will be different but I find that it gives me best control and is something that I can adjust as I am playing. PP just used thumb and first finger but for me that felt like it lacked structural support and the ability to get 'stuck-in' to the instrument
There's part of my single ended roll technique that ties in to that trinity of thumb, first and second fingers, I'm just figuring out the words to explain that which I do 'tacitly'. It's harder to explain than to demonstrate and very hard to do slowly which never helps.
The camera mic can never capture the essence of a drum's sound, it's hard enough in a proper studio with great mics and even recording to tape. I had a listen back to some of the 'Tank Commanders' recordings but given the 'live' nature of the recording it's hard to isolate individual instruments. Leave it with me and I'll see if I can get a better quality recording
The audio on the video is max-ed out without distortion, I don't think that I'm talking particularly quietly, is it much quieter than other videos? Is anyone else having this problem?
I have opened up
another thread asking what people want to see in these kinds of videos and demonstrations, hopefully it will help me (and others!) to be specific in meeting needs.
Hoping that it is all useful :)

p.s. glad you got the essay finished Mike, we'd hate to be the cause of you failing the course :) Oh yeah and I'm messing up the workshop today making chime bars - especially for you :)
