Couldn't resist altering it!
We'll have to try that Gemini Drum now!

Any success on the PM function I just noticed a PM from Rob that had been in my in-box since May 2nd!

Rob, apologies I just got you PM and replied

Welcome back Paul !
Reading through your first today re the egg - really fascinating, groundbreaking stuff. We're all privileged to have a sight of some of your thoughts, and many of us will be envying you your involvement. Who knows where it will end.
There must be a machine these days that could record how a beat resonates, meets the edge, and bounces back. A printout of its various routes would be a visual delight! But I fancy it all comes down to relying on a good ear, one that knows what to listen for.....
It's all going to divide us up, and at the same time keep us together.
My vocab. is gaining new meanings too.
There's Roundheads, Egg heads,Underhand, which leads to Pear Shapes, and Eggbeaters.
Can't work out how to fit in Tear drops, but will work on it.
Be well
John

Hey Cillian,

we don't play a lot south of the border, we don't get many invitations and those that we do get tend to be private cross border conference or corporate affairs. I also don't play much bodhran with Different Drums unfortunately!

Just checking my diary for public gigs, we're in Manorcunningham on 30 May (wbc weekend) Connaught Fleadh on 4 July, Moville 3 Aug and unconfirmed at the Solas festival on 17 Aug (although I'll be in Milwaukee).

Not sure where you are...

As a designer I can't switch off the critical 'could it be better' mode, it's an occupational hazard. The egg's very much a collaborative affair and not my singular work, Rob makes it possible, Davy Settles kicked us off and it's a tweak at a time so it's more like standing on the shouders.... I do love the act of designing to meet challenges though, it brings great satisfaction.

Look at chladni patterns those are for unbound membranes but there are strong parallels

I think that innovation by definition involves one or more people breaking ranks and seeking new ground, not a division just marching to the beat of a different drum.

That's when a heavily-invested prototype doesn't work :)

It certainly feels like it! It's not even 6pm and we're at 1100 page views today already. It's great to see the breadth and immediacy of the discussions, I love it!

I'm probably not making any of those although the WBC and the All Irelands would always be in my diary as 'if possibles'. I'll have to see you on the beach then. Bodwatch LOL

We only play where we are invited and never pitch to venues or festivals. The lambegs aren't always popular with everyone, just as bodhrans aren't always popular 'politically', This is the reason why we combine the both in Different Drums of Ireland - we let organisers make that desision :)

I have no plans so far.

I'll bring my red trunks and water wings.
