Hey everyone,
I've been thinking about a couple of things after a brief conversation with Ronnie Bracke from Belgium about him working to get a 'Geitekloppers BE' bodhran meeting organised.
I am happy for bodojo to facilitate any kind of local gathering of bodhran players where we can, I'll leave a few thoughts with you before I head off. Here's what I'm thinking.
- The clubs are free, everyone attending covers their own expenses.
- One person 'runs the club', this will mean providing a space plus tea/coffee or whatever
- Members gather on a regular basis (once per month?) and have a day/evening of bodhran chat, sharing and craic.
- That's it.
This kind of club provides members initially with an opportunity to meet up and try various drums, share techniques and get to know the person behind the username.
Bodojo can provide a forum and webspace if a group wishes to become an official 'bodojo club' - here members can make arrangements and share info following on from their meetings.
I'll be happy to host the Belfast Area Club although any players in and around NI who can make it will be welcome.
I do stress that these are proposed as informal regular gatherings, provided free by the bodhran community to the bodhran community simply to facilitate groups of enthusiasts getting together and getting all weird and nerdy about dead goats.
Anyway it is simply a proposal, it may or maynot have 'legs' - watchafink?
