Oh Grrr I have exams then but I would love to compete in it (I'm not that good at the mo and I need a better drum - currently on a Waltons 18"). Perhaps next year. Is it every year? and where is it held?

A levels actually :P. I'm from England.

I'll probably compete next year if I get the chance though - I'd love to take part (I'd probably lose).

What happens in the competition?

Hay Cillian, Hey Daryush (not Darius? :) Welcome to bodojo, great to have you on board.

I was planning on going down but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get away, it's quite a jaunt from Belfast and I've a business that needs me here right now. I've just found out I am going to be playing in New York next month too so I've to allow for that time away. I have a favour to ask Cillian - I'll PM you.

As Cillian says, all the details are on the WBC website. But to help give a little perspective on the standards, here's a bodhran.tv link to the under 12 solo champion Joe Mc Nulty's performance from last year. The competition's pretty stiff, but let that inspire you rather than put you off.

Great to see more quality bodhran events happening and people striving to master the instrument, undoing years of bad rep handed to us by session thrashers.

Welcome.

P
