Hi everyone,

I just want to let you know that there will be a Paul Phillips Scholarship benefit gig this evening at 8pm in the Primates Chapel Armagh (beside The Palace, Friary Rd, Armagh).

The gig features All Ireland Harpist Patricia Daly in her role as the 'Spanish Lady'. This was the project that Paul was recording on right up until his death and is the first gig since his death. I have been honoured to be asked to play to fill the big man's place for a few minutes.

RTE are to be screening some stuff poss in the new year from this year's Fleadh in Tullamore , they have asked if it's cool to screen part of the blistering gig with Paul P and phenomenal whistle player Brian Hughes. The family say it's ok so watch this space for more news.

I'm collecting any material whatsoever regarding Paul and his playing for the scholarship archive - audio, video, photos, even bootleg recordings from gigs or session recordings - please contact me via the www.pps.bodojo.com site

We will also be making recordings available for download in the new year. These are either
1. recordings already existing and donated for this purpose - Please contact me if your or your band would care to donate a track for this purpose; or
2. recordings that we make ourselves at a 3 day recording session in Portstewart on the North coast - there's an open invitation to all musicians to participate but please contact us first to get a time slot - more on the pps site soon.

We have outlined the main awards in greater detail on the site and will flesh those out when we know the kinds of resources that we will have at our disposal

Sorry to be only posting stuff about Paul, I'm currently being both Pauls in my wee business and I'm busier than a one legged soccer player. Things will hopefully settle down toward and after the new year

Hey All

Just a quick report to update you on the event above.

Patricia, David and I had great fun playing a wide variety of music, singing and dancing to entertain the near-multitudes attending.

Particular thanks to Patricia Daly who made all the arrangements for the evening and to David, a rare gentleman filled with song and movement who played with us. His Journeyman will stay with me for a long time :)

We retired afterwards over the Callan Bridge to Patricia's house for a parlour session with her mother Molly on fiddle & brother Martin on pipes. Tremendous.

The best news is that we managed to raise £500 ($1000)for the Scholarship Fund. A fabulous start.

Thank you to everyone who supported the evening in so many ways - playing, attending or even buying tickets and not attending.
