This is the hand that holds the stick or Tipper that is used to strike the bodhran.

With a right handed person this would normally be the right hand. The left hand is the Inside Hand and is used to adjust the tone and pitch of the drum when playing

In Handstriking style, the equivalent would be the Striking Hand
