Radiation is a process in which a body emits energy that propagates through a medium, or through empty space, to be absorbed by other bodies.

In the case of a bodhran shell it vibrates which causes ripples that radiate away from the shell. A thinner and lighter shell will radiate larger waves at a lower frequenct than a thicker or stiffer shell.
