The bodhran
The Irish Frame drum played with a single stick. Prepared goatskin is attached to one side of the bodhran and a hand is placed against the inside skin to affect the bodhran's tone. Click to find out more about the bodhran.

Bodojo is keen to facilitate members joining together informally on a regular basis to discuss the bodhran and extend the online community into smaller actual regional communities. This is a call for expressions of interest in forming a number of informal bodojo bodhran clubs. These would be regional and open to players of all qualities and styles. Each club would require a facilitator to arrange for a space (someone's house?) and to make tea & coffee or whatever is the beverage of preference. I stress that these are intended to be free clubs, gatherings of like-minded people who want to experience others' drums, see other players play and generally engage in bodhran-social activity. It is not a formal event but facilitators may arrange for special guests or events where members contribute to the cost. Click here to express your interest and/or see others' responses on the forum Of course you don't have to make it a 'bodojo' bodhran club at all, but doing so will bring bodojo support via a club forum and whaver facilities the site can bring to assist the running & maintenance of the club. File bodojo's support under 'bodhran evangelism' As I said I am only evaluating the level of interest currently. We have support so far for a regular event in Ulster & Munster. Please use the forum thread to respond. I will be out of communication from 7-11 May but I'll respond when I come back. Thanks - P |
